Joyce obtained a law degree from the University of Warwick and then attended the College of Law in Guildford to do the Law Society exams.
Joyce has worked in the private client area since qualification. She has dealt with a wide ranging caseload including estate administration, preparation of wills and powers of attorney, Court of Protection matters and disputes over wills and estates. She has a particular interest in issues affecting elderly clients. Joyce also acts as Deputy under the Court of Protection when required and has been a Court appointed administrator in several estates.
Joyce is a full member of STEP and a fully accredited member of Solicitors For The Elderly. Currently, she is a regional director of Solicitors For The Elderly with responsibility for Birmingham and the surrounding area.
Joyce has been involved in private client work for over forty years, having been articled to a private client specialist. She has worked mainly in Birmingham and London with a couple of spells in Coventry. Her experience has been wide ranging and involved all areas of private client work, from straightforward wills to multi million pound estates, Joyce likes the fact that she is always coming across new situations which present fresh challenges. Most recently, she has been dealing with a case involving a faked will. Joyce is passionate about her role in Solicitors For The Elderly and keen to promote their aim of being the gold standard in elderly client care. She is a trained Dementia Friend and in the past has undergone bereavement awareness training.
Joyce is married with two grown up children. She is a keen gardener and has a large garden which keeps her busy. She is an animal lover and at one time was heavily involved in her local cat rescue movement. Over the years, Joyce has shared her home with a variety of animals including three Great Danes. She has acted as clerk to a small Coventry charity for the relief of poverty for over thirty years. When time permits, Joyce likes to attend Birmingham Royal Ballet and the Shakespeare Theatre at Stratford upon Avon. She is also a fan of classical concerts and especially enjoys outdoor Proms style concerts, being a regular at the Battle Proms each year.
